The catch:
The program covers eligible MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro models for 4 years after the first retail sale of the unit.
The steps are:
- Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
- Make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store.
- Mail your device to the Apple Repair Center.
For some reason, I have become a frequent flyer in this program. Writing code or using CLI is a lot different than writing an email and missing a letter. The command will not work if it’s missing a character or there are two or three instead of one.
Conclusion:
Apple made a mistake with the mechanics of the keyboard for about five years. The ironic thing is that most machines on that list are outside our service area. One thing to note is that Apple is willing to reimburse you. If you personally paid to repair the keyboard.
